Our research topics are based on medical imaging. To enhance the image quality for 2D radiography, CT, PET and SPECT, we are studying diverse research fields.

High Resolution SPECT using Variable Pinhole Collimator

We propose a novel variable pinhole collimator and design target oriented imaging for preclinical SPECT. Results show that proposed system has not only high resolution but also high sensitivity.

Multi-purpose Super-resolution Gamma Detector (MSG)

We are developing a multi-purpose super-resolution gamma detector which is used for general nuclear medicine imaging system using Ce:GAGG crystal and MPPC.

Low Profile Light Guide using Diffusion Film

We make feasibility study of diffusion film for light guide of nuclear medicine instrument.

Advanced Reconstruction for Radiation imaging (ARRA)

This study was developed as part of the SPECT study in the Advanced Reconstruction for Radiation imaging (ARRA) project.

Reconstruction of Dose Distribution in In-beam PET for Carbon Theraphy

In this study, we aim to compensate the artifacts which come from two kinds of gap in in-beam PET system : gaps for hardrons and gaps between the modules.

Image Registration for Breast Cancer Study

We have been developing 3D free-form deformable registration algorithm for breast PET-CT and MR images to make the PET/MR fusion images.

High Energy Collimator Design for I-131

In this study, we designed the multi-pinhole collimator for I-131 source and physically simulated the pinhole structure. And we implemented MLEM algorithm to get reconstruction image for tomographic result

Plasma-Display-Panel based X-ray Detector (PXD)

Plasma display panel (PDP) has a similar structure to conventional gas type radiation detectors and can be manufactured with lower cost than TFT-based detector panels.

Optical Lens Coupled CCD based Gamma-ray Detector

We developed an optical lens coupled CCD-based gamma camera for preclinical system with pinhole collimator, and CsI(Tl) columnar scintillator.

Abdomen Registration for PET/CT and MR images

To develop an image registration algorithm for abdominal PET/CT and standalone MR images, we developed a 3D elastic image registration algorithm which consists of NMI based global matching and ICA-based refinement.

Performance Optimization by Patient Dose Analysis and Image Quality Assessment in Next Generation Digital Fluoroscopy (CTF)

We investigated radiation doses to patients and operators by simulating an orthopedic surgery using CT fluoroscopy systems in their 2-D fluoroscopy modes.

Cone-beam based system matrix for a pixelated SPECT detector

In this study, we designed a high sensitive collimator, i.e., registered collimator. Its opening was designed to align with the pixel by having same pitch and shape.

Development of Time-of-Flight Method for Improvement of Signal-to-Noise Ratio

The proposed TOF reconstruction image show higher contast than back-projection method which apply time spead fuction(TSF), and acceleration method show faster and stable than conventional method.

HPC Cluster Design for Monte-Carlo Simulation

To develop a small laboratory level HPC system, we designed a compact, scalable and cost-effective cluster.

Positioning Algorithm for CZT Virtual Frisch-grid Detector

We developed a high precision position decoding method for a positron emission tomography (PET) detector that consists of a thick slab scintillator coupled with a multichannel photomultiplier tube (PMT).

Limited Angle Gamma Imaging for Small Objects Using a Multi-pinhole Collimation System

We have investigated a limited angle gamma imaging system that provides pseudo 3D reconstruction of small objects.
